Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced Saturday that he has formally delivered to U.S. President Donald Trump a detailed request for military assistance valued at $90 billion.
Speaking at a press briefing in Kyiv, Zelenskyy said the list contained “everything Ukraine wants, with details and illustrations,” underscoring Kyiv’s push for advanced American weaponry. Among the requested systems are Tomahawk cruise missiles and long-range strike capabilities, which Zelenskyy described as part of a broader “big deal” for expanding Ukraine’s arsenal.
The Ukrainian leader emphasized that his government is also open to negotiating separate agreements for specific categories of weapons, particularly long-range systems. His comments came a day after U.S. media outlets reported that Trump was weighing the possibility of transferring long-range weapons to Ukraine. However, the president has not made any public commitments on the matter.
Zelenskyy also made a striking claim about Israel’s role in bolstering Ukraine’s defenses. He revealed that a Patriot air defense system supplied by Israel has been operating in Ukraine for the past month, and that two more systems are expected to arrive in the fall. This statement directly contradicts prior denials from Israeli authorities, who had previously insisted they were not supplying such systems to Kyiv.
In June, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Moscow had received official assurances from Israel rejecting reports that Patriot systems would be delivered to Ukraine.
The announcement highlights Ukraine’s ongoing effort to secure advanced Western weapons as the war drags on, while also raising new questions about Israel’s quiet involvement in supporting Kyiv’s defense.
