ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Police in Virginia are investigating a frightening incident involving three individuals dressed in disturbing costumes who allegedly attempted to break into a family’s home late Sunday night.
According to local reports, the suspects banged on the front door of the residence before attempting to enter through the back. The incident, which took place in Alexandria, left the family shaken but unharmed.
The homeowner’s daughter said the family exercised restraint despite fearing for their lives.
“Our Second Amendment right was not used, and it could have been,” she said, noting that the situation could have turned deadly if the suspects had managed to break in.
Alexandria Police Chief Tarrick McGuire confirmed that investigators are reviewing home security footage and canvassing the area for additional leads.
“We’re actively searching for you. We’re going to ultimately find you,” McGuire said in a statement directed at the suspects. “I want to be very clear — this is a very serious matter.”

Authorities have not yet released descriptions of the suspects or the type of costumes they were wearing but have urged residents in the area to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
No injuries or property damage were reported. The Alexandria Police Department continues to investigate the attempted break-in.
