U.S. service members have received their mid-month pay this week, a senior War Department official confirmed on Tuesday — following President Donald Trump’s directive to ensure military salaries were issued despite the ongoing budget standoff in Congress.
“Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, service members received their mid-month salary, and their Leave and Earning Statements (LES) are now available in myPay,” the official told Viral Short News.
The confirmation comes days after President Trump announced that he had ordered Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to use “all available funds” to make sure U.S. troops were paid on October 15.
“We identified the funds necessary to meet payroll obligations,” the official said. “The President made it clear that the men and women of our Armed Forces would not be caught in political crossfire.”
This action follows attempts by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Democratic lawmakers to block certain appropriations amid the ongoing budget impasse. The Trump administration, however, maintained that military pay should remain unaffected by the dispute.
According to defense officials, the Department used contingency funding authorized under emergency powers to meet payroll deadlines. No disruptions to active-duty or reserve pay have been reported as of Wednesday morning.
The War Department reiterated that “ensuring stability for our forces and their families remains a top priority” and confirmed that regular end-of-month payments are expected to proceed as scheduled.
