WASHINGTON, D.C. — A self-identified member of the liberal protest group “No Kings” is facing widespread backlash after a video surfaced showing them celebrating the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk and calling on Democrats to “get meaner.”
In the video, the protester made a series of inflammatory remarks, including comparing Kirk to Adolf Hitler.
“Charlie Kirk is a piece of garbage,” the protester said.
“Hitler is dead. I’m glad Hitler’s dead. Evil people have no place in my world. He was a hateful human being. It was disgusting the things he said and did.”
The remarks drew sharp condemnation across social media, with both conservatives and liberals denouncing the celebration of political violence. Several commentators warned that the rhetoric could further inflame divisions across the country.
Law enforcement officials have not confirmed whether the individual in the video is under investigation, but the Secret Service and FBI typically review public threats or statements glorifying political violence, especially when tied to ongoing security incidents.
The “No Kings” group has previously organized protests in major cities, often promoting anti-establishment and left-wing causes. The group has not issued an official statement regarding the comments made in the video.
Kirk, a prominent conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, was assassinated earlier this month in an incident that remains under federal investigation.
